As most business owners know, to get a lot of sales and traffic from Google you have to be ranked pretty high up and by high I mean in the top 3 pages because not many people will flick through all the pages, most people just look on the first few pages and find the information there. What is the solution I hear you ask? Well the answer is back links. These are links that go back to your site. You can obtain these by writing articles and putting your site link in them and the same with blogs. As some of you know this can take ages if you are trying to get high search engine rankings. Another way of getting your site higher up is content, Google loves content, and if you keep your site updated then your rank will get higher.

However, today I want to show you a way that will generate so many back links to your site that your site will charge straight through the ranking to the top and will also double your site traffic in one month, automatically.

The way that I am talking about is a system called ‘3way links’. This system works automatically so all you need to do is set it up. What you do is choose three keywords that describe your site and that’s it. The system does the rest for you and the best thing is you can add up to 50 sites. That’s 50 of your sites ranked high in Google.

When I first heard about this I was rather sceptical, Google can easily detect ‘3 way links’ networks and treats them the same as one way links. This made me think why should I use your system? The answer was this actually worked. I tried it out and my traffic started to rise slowly but surely.

This method of getting ranked high in Google is very easy yet effective. It only takes 5 minutes to set up and you can just leave it for a month and when you come back to check your sites it would have doubled in website traffic from Google. This works a lot more quickly than just submitting articles and waiting for a few days for them to be approved when this system starts straight away.

So if you’re interested in getting your business ranked higher in Google fast then I recommend that you use the ‘3way links’ system you will see results!

For those of you not yet aware, Google is currently updating the
PageRank they are displaying in their toolbar. Each update
causes a stir among the SEO community and webmasters trying to
get their websites to the top of the Google Rankings.

What Is PageRank?

Without getting into too much detail, PageRank is essentially a
score out of ten as to the “value” of your site in comparison to
other websites on the Internet. It is based on two primary
factors; the number of links you have pointing to your website
and the value of the links pointing to your website. The value
is calculated based on the PageRank of the page linking to you
and debatably the relevancy of the page linking to you (there is
no hard evidence to back up the relevancy factor in regards to
PageRank that I have seen however it definitely is a factor in
your overall ranking).

If you are interested in more information on PageRank you would
do well to visit the many forums and articles on the topic and
also visit Google’s own description on their website at http://www.google.com/technology/ where
theygive a brief description of the technology.

What’s New?

The most current PageRank update will undoubtedly cause a larger
stir than usual in that many sites have shown drops in their
visible PageRank while at the same time showing significant
increases in their backlinks. This fact reveals that one of
three things has occurred in this latest update:

Google has raised the bar on PageRank, making it more
difficult to attain a high level, or

The way they are
displaying their backlinks has changed, or

The way they
calculate the value of an incoming link has changed.

Any of these are possible and has been noted in the past as
something they are willing to do. Additionally, it is possible
for all to occur at the same time.

As we don’t like to use client’s as examples I will use the
Beanstalk site, backlink counts, and PageRank changes as the
meter by which the following conclusions are drawn, however this
information was attained through looking at a number of client
website, and their competitors.

Google Raising The Bar To Lower Yours

In the past few PageRank updates it has become quite apparent
that Google is continuously raising the bar on PageRank. In
their defense, with all of the reciprocal link building, link
renting, etc. going on this was a natural reaction to the
growing number high PageRank sites that attained those ranks
simply by building or buying hundreds and thousands of
links.

There is no doubt that this is a factor in the changes in this
current update. If your site has maintained it’s PageRank, and
the PageRanks of your second-level pages then you have done well
in holding steady and if your competitors have not been as
diligent their positions will slip.

New Backlink Calculations I mention this one
only to bring to light that it is a possibility for your future
consideration during other updates. The Beanstalk website went
from 750 shown backlinks on Google to 864. it should be noted
that Google does not show all backlinks (if you want a more
accurate backlink count go to Yahoo! and enter
“link:http://www.yourdomain.com” (don’t forget the
http://)).

When the Beanstalk site showed 750 backlinks on Google we were
showing around 12,000 on Yahoo! (about 6.5% showing on Google).
The Beanstalk site is now showing 864 on Google and 15,500 on
Yahoo! (about 5.6%). If anything then, Google is showing less
links than before which negates the possibility that a website’s
PageRank is dropping due to a decrease in links but being hidden
by an increased number being displayed.

In short, while which backlinks Google chooses to display has
certainly changed over time it does not appear to be a major
factor in this update. If you see an increase in your sites
backlink counts during this update you undoubtedly have an
increased number of links.

The Value Of Links

Separate from the number of links you have is their value. This
appears to be an area of significant change in this update.
Areas that appear to have reduced value in regards to affecting
PageRank are:

Multiple links from the same site
or run-of-site links Intelligent and relevant reciprocal
links do not seem to have been penalized, probably due to the
increased relevancy factor. If you reduce the value of
irrelevant links and raise the value of relevant ones then there
is no need to penalize reciprocal links as, done incorrectly,
they will penalize themselves.

Links with text
around them that indicate they are purchased such as “Partners”,
“Advertising”, etc. Google has and is actively trying to
reduce the value of paid links. This appears to have been
moderately successful where there is clear indication that the
link is paid for.

Links from sites that hold
little relevancy (this factor is based on educated speculation)
The relevancy factor appears to have become more
important. Links from sites with content related to yours is
showing positive results while sites with larger numbers of less
relevant links are showing drops in PageRank.

What Does This Mean?

For those of you who have been proactive in your link building,
and focused on relevant sites using the Google Directory,
searches or a tool like PR Prowler it means, “stay the course”. Those of you
who have been building or buying links based only on PageRank
with little concern for it’s location, or how it is presented -
you will need to adjust your link building efforts
accordingly.

What Do I Do – My PageRank Dropped ?!!?

The first thing not to do is panic. Take a deep
breath, PageRank is one factor of dozens that Google uses to
determine the ranking of your page, it is not the only thing.
Now, visit your main competitors sites – there’s a good chance
you’ll see that they too dropped in PageRank. The plus side to
these kinds of updates is that they’re universal. It’s not as if
Google has it in for you specifically and so when they do an
update, the positive and negative impact is felt by all.

Now, if you’ve noticed that everyone around you has stayed the
same or increased in PageRank try to remember this, there’s
nothing you can do about where you’re currently positioned in
regards to PageRank and it will probably be another 3 months
before Google updates the public PageRank again so … start
building some good quality (high relevancy, solid PageRank)
links, work towards and increase in the next update.

Panicking now won’t help, intelligent reaction will.

What Happens Now?

Traditionally the search engine results will begin to fluctuate
based on the new visible PageRank 3 to 7 days after they are
visible. This does not have to be the case as Google’s had these
numbers all along but it’s worked this way in the majority of
cases in recent history. So monitor your search engine positions
over the next week or two and watch for changes. Try to hold
back on making major changes to your site during this time as
often the final positions will differ from those that can be
viewed during the shuffling. In a couple weeks time evaluate
where you stand and tweak your site as necessary but don’t spend
too much time on that … you have a solid link building effort
to undertake. </p

How many years did you register your domain name for? If it was
only one then Google could hold that against you.

Why?

Because the majority of Spam websites only register a domain
name for one year. A domain name registered for a longer period
implies that the owner is more likely to be legitimate and

serious about their web site.

This is just one of the unusual factors possibly considered by
Google when indexing and ranking a website. Factors you could
never even have guessed at in some cases.

How do I know this?

Google have recently made public the contents of their filing of
United States Patent

Application 20050071741 on March 31 2005.

In which many of the search giants secret ranking criteria is
revealed and it makes very interesting reading. You must read
this if you are serious about ranking well in Google. The

days of Spaming Google are drawing to a close. With this patent
they reveal just how hard they’re coming down on Spam sites. You
Do Not want to get caught out.

Here are the facts.

• Links.

It’s common knowledge that Google relies heavily on inbound
relevant links to rank a site. Now they explain exactly how it
works.

As well as the number, quality and anchor text factors of a
link. Google seems to also consider historical factors.
Apparently the Google ’sandbox’ or aging delay begins count down
the minute links to a new site are discovered.

Google records the discovery of a link, link changes over time,
the speed at which a site gains links and the link life span.
With this in mind fast link acquisition may be a strong
indicator of potential search engine Spam.

Gone are the days of pages and pages full of links. You must
grow your links slowly to stay below the radar and be careful
who you exchange links with. That means no more buying hundreds
of links at once or other underhand tactics.

PR is now very valuable.

Your link anchor text should vary but remain consistent with
your site content. No more using your main keywords on every
link exchange you gain. That’s ‘anchor Spam’. Instead vary them
around your top five to ten keywords.

Link exchanges are still very important but you must work and
utilize them ethically. If you don’t and you get caught the
recovery from a ban can be months in coming and your host and IP
may also be recorded.

Softly softly seems to be the message. The fact is fewer but
better quality links will benefit you more anyway and they will
be much more likely to be long-term which is also good.

• Site click through rates (CTR)

CTR may now be monitored through cache, temporary files,
bookmarks and favorites via the Google toolbar or desktop tools.
Many have suspected for some time that sites are reward for good
CTR with a raise in ranking. Similar to how Adwords works.

CTR is monitored to see if fresh or stale content is preferred
for a search result.

CTR is also analyzed for increases or decreases relating to
trends or seasons.

• Web page rankings are recorded and monitored for changes.

• The traffic to a web page is recorded and monitored over time.

• Sites can be ranked seasonally. A ski site may rank higher in
the winter than in the summer.

Google can monitor and rank pages by recording CTR changes by
season.

• Bookmarks and favorites could be monitored for changes,
deletions or additions.

• User behaviour in general could be monitored.

As Google is capable of tracking traffic to your site you should
closely monitor the small amount of copy returned in search
results. Ideally you want to integrate a call to action in there
to increase your listings CTR.

Clicks away from your site back to the search results are also
monitored. Make your site as sticky as possible to keep visitors
there longer. As mentioned above it may also help if you could
get your visitors to bookmark you.

• The frequency and amount of page updates is monitored and
recorded as is the number of pages.

Mass updates of hundreds of files will see you pop up on the
radar. On the other hand few or small updates to your site could
see your rankings slide. Unless your CTR is good. A stale page
that receives good traffic may hold it’s own and not require an
update. So don’t update for the sake of it.

A further indicator that Google is really cracking down on Spam
is made clear in the following extract from the Patent. Mention
is made of changing the focus of multiple pages at once.

Here’s the quote -

“A significant change over time in the set of topics associated
with a document may indicate that the document has changed
owners and previous document indicators, such as score, anchor
text, etc., are no longer reliable.

Similarly, a spike in the number of topics could indicate Spam.
For example, if a particular document is associated with a set
of one or more topics over what may be considered a ’stable’
period of time and then a (sudden) spike occurs in the number of
topics associated with the document, this may be an indication
that the document has been taken over as a ‘doorway’ document.

Another indication may include the sudden disappearance of the
original topics associated with the document. If one or more of
these situations are detected, then [Google] may reduce the
relative score of such documents and/or the links, anchor text,
or other data associated the document.”

There’s still more to look out for:-

• Changes in on page keyword density is monitored and recorded
as are changes to anchor text.

• The domain name owner address is considered, most likely to
help in a local search result.

• The technical and admin contact details are checked for
consistency. These are often falsified for Spam domains.

• Your hosts IP address. If you are on a shared server it’s
possible somebody else on that server is using dirty tactics or
Spaming. If so your site will suffer since you share the same IP.

The impression I get here is that Google have learned from the
Spam ‘attack’ they suffered in early 2004 and they are
determined to eradicate it from their listing results.

So what do you do?

You can’t go far wrong with your SEO if you try to grow your
site as organically as possible.Carry on with link exchanges but
consider each site carefully and slow down in your gathering of
them. Vary your anchor text. Add small amounts of good quality
content to your site regularly.

Check your search engine listings and edit your site to include
a call to action in them if possible. Make your site more
’sticky’ to encourage visitors to stay a while. Encourage
visitors to Bookmark your site. Oh and register new domain names
for at least two years.

Overall keep it ethical and you can’t go far wrong. Stick to the
guidelines above and you are much more likely to outlast and out
rank your competition

Expert Google search engine optimization have increased exponentially, because of the proven search engine optimization and search engine positioning techniques.

A group of Google employees have recently filed a patent application (#20050071741) with the United States Patent and Trademark Office which gives insight into how to optimize one’s website to do well in the Google rankings. The filing of the patent gives verification that Google uses or intends to use historical data in its ranking algorithm. This patent also gives credence to the Google Sandbox Theory for new websites.

Under the Google Sandbox Theory, new websites are placed in a sort of holding tank for observation for a period of time (6 – 9 months at present) until the website has proved that it’s not a fly-by-night operation. Once the Sandbox period is over, then new websites will climb rapidly in the rankings. The Google Sandbox Theory is an unofficial theory based on observation and anecdotal evidence from those within the search engine optimization industry.

Based on the new Google patent here are the top 5 suggestions to better optimization for Google:

1- Build links slowly to your website. Websites that put up a bunch links quickly send up a red flag that links are being added in order to boost rankings. According to Google, natural links happen slowly over time, so one’s link-building strategy also needs to include link-building slowly over time.

2- The anchor text in the back links to a website also need to be natural as well. If a website has lots of great content of interest to visitors, other Webmasters will naturally link to the website. Content is still king when it comes to building natural links. In fact, having great content is the best natural linking strategy.

3- If content is king, then fresh content is prince. Google thrives on websites that are constantly adding fresh content. Websites with stale content erode in value over time.

4- When adding fresh content, make sure it is substantial. According to the patent, Google measures substantial versus insubstantial content that is being added to a website. Don’t try to trick the search engines with lots of minor content updates.

5- Outbound links to trusted, authority sites help in the rankings. As a reputable online business, it makes good business sense to refer customers to other reputable businesses as well. Referring customers to disreputable websites only hurt a business’s reputation and credibility and Google takes this into account when deciding how to rank websites.

There are more insights to be gained from the patent application, but these are the highlights that will help Webmasters and SEO’s focusing on Google to achieve higher rankings. Many of these ideas have been stated before as theory and now the patent application verifies these theories. Historical data has always been thought to play a significant role in the Google rankings. So now that it has been confirmed, taking action seems to be the next logical step.

I hope this helps in your future advertising decisions.

The success of any website depends on the rank that is assigned to it by popular search engines–the greater the rank the higher is the possibility of getting noticed on the Internet. Websurfers are usually attracted to the web pages according to their ranking in the search engine listings. The ones in the top ten positions are visited the most. For improving the PageRank of a website it is important to understand the process in which the ranking is done.

The PageRank (PR) given to a webpage indicates its importance. The webpage that ranks first is, obviously, a lot more important than the webpage that ranks eighth or ninth in the search engine listings. Google is considered to be the most important search engine by the web browsers. For assigning PRs Google first looks for pages that are linked up with other sites the most. When one webpage links up with another webpage, Google interprets that the first webpage is casting a vote for the second webpage. The importance of a webpage is determined by the number of votes it gets–the greater the number of votes, the more important it is perceived to be. Another factor that determines the importance that a webpage gains depends on the significance of the voter itself. If a webpage gets its votes from web pages that are very important, it is considered to have a greater importance than the ones that are voted by a large number of web pages that are not all that important.

The PR feature is one of the vital factors that determines the rank that Google assigns to the webpages in its search engine results, though it is not the only criterion for deciding its search engine rankings. The search engine rankings are influenced by factors other than the PR feature too.

While calculating the PR Google does not take all the linkings into account. If a webpage is getting links from known link farms, the link is not considered for deciding upon the PR. Link farm can be defined as a group of websites that hyperlink to every other site existing in the group. In fact, a webpage can get into trouble with Google for linking up with certain links. Google does not penalize webpages for the links that automatically link up with them, but they definitely penalize a webpage for forming some unfavorable links, because forming links is in the hands of the webmasters, though getting automatically linked up is not controlled by them. Hence a webpage needs to be very careful about the association that it makes. Usually sites that have a PR zero are the ones that are under a penalty and they should not be linked to.

For calculating the PR, the number of its inbound links is first considered. Google has a generalized formula which it uses to calculate the PR. Whenever a webpage links to another webpage, it gives it a certain PR value by voting for it. This PR value should be slightly lesser than its own PR value. This value is equally distributed among all the web pages that it links to. For example, it is always better to get a link from a page that has a PR value of 5 and has six other links than from one which has a PR value of 12 and links up with 20 other web pages. This signifies that getting links from web pages that have numerous other links is not really helpful. It is better to link with web pages that have a high PR and link up with a lesser number of other websites.

It is also seen that the difference between the PR values of web pages is not equal, i.e., the difference between PR1 and PR2 and the difference between PR2 and PR3 is not same. It is believed that the difference is set on a logarithmic scale and it takes a greater amount of PR value to move from the one rank to the next higher ranks. In such a case it is seen that linking with a webpage that has more PR value is more profitable than linking with a webpage with lesser PR value, which is a contrary result to what has been deduced from the previous conclusion. However, in any case, it is seen that linking with other web pages increases the PR value and it is always better to avoid linking with link farms.

It should also be borne in mind that by voting for another webpage, the PR of a webpage does not decrease. But it is seen that the PR is lost in an indirect way by linking to other sites.

Proper optimization techniques can enhance SEO rankings to the extent of enabling serious business growth. The concept of page rank is attributed to the mode used by Google to evaluate web pages on the basis of link structures, but the term as such is the property of the Stanford University. SEO rankings result from the adequate choice of keywords and their good integration in the content of the site, so that they bring up easily in searches performed by various Internet surfers. SEO rankings are expressed on a numeric scale from 0-10, starting from the relevance of the keywords and the number of page visitors.

People usually hire web masters to take care and improve the SEO rankings of the business pages, and the first way to increase the site relevance is by creating high quality links. This part of SEO rankings is also known as the Google visibility in search results. When you contact a SEO company, remember that search engine optimization involves long-term planning, and that traffic is built in time, in parallel with other applications developed stage by stage. Reaching good SEO rankings can thus take days or weeks.

It all depends on the kind of tools used to built the web site and on how new or old your pages are on the web. More rapid SEO rankings are achieved if you care to choose a web consultant that knows everything about your type of system; thus, development rate of the optimization will grow considerably. Another case when SEO takes more time is when the restructuring or copy writing of a system are necessary. The thing is that once a web master starts working for you, improvements in SEO rankings should appear within the first month, particularly if you didn’t start from a very high position in Google.

Another situation when the improvement of SEO rankings gets difficult is when your site has been using elements labeled as unethical by Google. Nevertheless, a SEO expert will tackle with the inconvenience. Then, once the on-page work is done, link creation is initiated. This means that you start targeting other sites to create inbound links to the personal page. The process of link building is of an ongoing nature, meaning that they should be constantly submitted for the increase of the SEO rankings.

The title is vitally important to how Google and the other search engines rank you. It’s probably the single most important part of a webpage. But it’s often neglected or badly-worded. I’m as guilty of this as the next guy. I come from a magazine-writing and radio copy-writing background.

I love the doubl entendre and the wacky headline. I saw one yesterday in The Sydney Morning Herald, as it happens. Heading a story on a so-called Millionaire who became a Buddhist monk and was busted several times for growing and supplying hydroponic pot.

The Sub-Editor had a lot of fun with this story by heading it Felonious Monk (From Thelonious Monk the jazz musician). But while that’s pretty slick for a newspaper, it’s not much good as a heading for an online story. Why? Because they are bad keywords. Nobody’s going to Google Felonious Monk are they?

They might Google Monk Growing Pot or something like that but never the other. So the Title is a chance for you to throw up your keywords – your powerful keywords that you’ve already researched after using a free keyword tool (you’ll find one on my Wallyworld site) – throw them up in your Title Tag as its called in HTML and attract Google and the other Search Engines interest (and build backlinks).

The page title should include only your main keywords. The least amount of words you can place in the title, the more weight Google will give to each of the keywords and the higher you will rank. Keep it mean and lean. Cut out the unnecessary words like “How”, “You Can”, “Get”, “Become” – old style copywriting frills like that and go for the jugular – even ditch conjunctions like “and” and “to” if you can. Google doesn’t care about the style – it just wants the nitty-gritty.

I could have headed this story something wordy like How to Boost Your Google Rankings and Increase your Adsense Earnings at the Same Time with a Few Simple Tips Using this FREE Tool. But Google would probably just pick up on the Boost Your Google Rankings part anyway.

Add h1 Header Tags to your site. Now we need to add a h1 header tag and put at least one of our strong keywords there.

Put the h1 header tag as far up the top of the page as possible. When Google reads a webpage, it views the text from the top left hand side of the page to the bottom right hand side of the page. The header tag is a title for the content you have on your page.

For example, the h1 header tag of this page might be: “Adding Killer Keywords to Your Titles Can Really Boost Your Google Rankings!”

Add h2 header tags to your site. An h2 header tag is kinda like a sub heading for your webpage where you can put more keywords. And it should be placed somewhere towards the top half of your webpage.

Get it? Use your main keyword in your h1 tags and your secondary keyword into the h2 tags.

Make Use of alt image tags on your site. Next, click on the very top image of your webpage (This is usually your website’s header graphic) and include an alt image tag using the text “Boost Your Google rankings” if you’re adding this alt text to your website header graphic.

Click on 2 more graphics throughout your webpage and enter your other 2 keywords, plus an extra word like “graphic” or “image”… For example, we would use “adding killer keyword titles graphic” and “keywords to Boost Your Google Rankings image”. This ensures that Google won’t view this as spam.

A Germany company SISTRIX recently conducted a study of 10,000 random keywords and analysed of the top 100 Google results for each. And here’s what they found -

Keywords in the title tag are important as well as in the body of the text but title tag keywords carry far more weight.

Keywords in H2-H6 tags can influence your rankings while keywords in H1 tags do not appear to have much effect.

Keywords in bold or strong tags can positively impact your rankings. Keywords in image file names and image alt attributes also improved a sites rankings.

Keywords in the domain name often ranked higher. Inbound links and PageRank value had a significant impact on rankings.

Two Final Tips: If you want to get your new blog or site listed quickly on Google just get another site with a PageRank of at least 5 to link to you. And don’t forget to put your main keywords at the very top left and then at the very bottom right hand side of the webpage. And Boost Your Google Rankings.

A short rhyme by Woz at WebmasterWorld best describes the Google dance. It goes –

They put some pages in,

They take some pages out,

They calculate the PageRank,

Then they shake it all about,

They wait until the full moon

Then they mix the servers up,

That’s what its all about.

Webmasters have christened a concept associated with all search engines after the name of Google – the Google dance. And rightly so. Because of the sheer reach, popularity and reputation of Google as a search engine, Google has been subjected to scrutiny under a microscope by search engine analysts more often than not. So what exactly is Google Dance?

The Google dance explained

The results of a particular search on Google highly fluctuate when Google Shuffles the rankings of websites in its search engine results pages (SERPs). This concept is termed as dance. During the dance, the results for a particular search on Google vary minute to minute. The index update at Google is changed at an interval of about a month. Though the outcome of this change in the index is instantly reflected on the SERPs, the actual process takes several days to complete. It is not viable for Google to shut down operations or go offline till the updated index is transferred to all their servers. Hence the results for a particular search fluctuate or ‘dance’ till the index update is transferred to all Google servers.

It has been observed that Google has three main servers – www.google.com, www2.google.com, and www3.google.com. During an index update, the results displayed by these three servers vary to a large extent. This happens because one server reflects the updated index while the other is still showing the results of the old index.

An easy way of determining whether the dance is on is to make a search request on www.google.com and look at the blue bar on top of the page. It shows ‘pages 1-12 of about 564,000’. Then search for the same on www2.google.com and www3.google.com. If the number of total pages differs in each server, you know that the dance is on. You know the dance is over when the numbers do not vary and the order of the results is the same.

Google’s spider constantly visits websites to check their validity and to delete non existent websites. It is, therefore, common to see nominal changes in the results of a search over a month or so. But, if there is an alarming variation in the ranking of a website, or a major alteration in the results within a few days, it can be guessed that the Google dance is on.

Is it a thing of past?

Many experts contend that the Google dance is a thing of the past. The monthly update of the index list is the result of the deep crawl wherein Google’s spiders crawl the web to update its index on a monthly basis. Regular searchers will swear that the results fluctuate more than once a month. This happens because of the fresh crawl employed by Google. This crawl is carried out almost continuously to keep the index up to date. This frequent fluctuation in the results of a search is termed as everflux. Because of the fresh crawl, determining whether the dance is on cannot be based on the variation in the total number of search pages. If the three Google servers show a different number of back links to important sites such as Yahoo or AOL, then the Google dance is on.

But this does not lessen the importance of the monthly update. Because of the continuous search of the web with the help of fresh crawl pages keep getting included in and excluded out of the result pages almost everyday. But it is the deep crawl of the web that decides the rankings of web pages by Google.

How to cope up?

It is only during the dance that the rankings will fluctuate. There’s no need to panic if your ranking suddenly drops among Google’s rankings. A 5-6 day wait will see you heave a sigh of relief as the rankings stabilize for the coming month. Others who want to know their ranks even during the dance can access the intermediate bases of Google. Knowing that the dropping in the ranking is temporary, it is important not to over compensate. Continue offering quality content through your website and you are bound to sustain any dire effects of the Google dance.

How many sites link to your site? In other words, state the link popularity health of your site. Have you ever been asked this question? And, did not know what to say?

Go to Google. Type in link:www.cnn.com in the search box. The number that Google throws up, namely, 115,000 (on the blue-colored bar present on top of the page) at the time of writing this article, is the total number of sites that are currently linking to www.cnn.com, and which have been indexed by Google. In other words, this number can be greater than 115,000, or more than 115,000 sites may have currently linked to www.cnn.com, but it won’t show up with the (link: www.cnn.com), because those sites are not in the Google’s Database.

Methodology for building link popularity through Reciprocal Link Exchange Programs

1.Create a html page, preferably named as “Resources/Links/Partners” and place a link of this page from Index Page of your site. This page should never be more than 1 click away from the index page of your site, else webmasters won’t be interested in participating in the reciprocal link exchange program.

2.Target both “industry-related” and “non-industry-related” websites as your link exchange partners. For example, if you are providing SEO services, then try getting links from “industry-related websites (i.e. websites dealing with SEO, maybe your business rivals). This is important, because if 10 of your rival (here SEO) sites give link to your site, then Google will surely pay importance to your site, because getting links from rival companies are difficult. Your site MUST be of some high caliber, else the other 10 sites won’t have linked! Also, try procuring general links as well.

3.Always exchange links with websites which have high PageRank (PR) (at least 4, the more the better!) (both Index Page as well as Resources/Links Page of the Link Partner’s site should have PRs of >=4)

4.Have a link code ready for participating in link exchange program. Here is a sample link code for a SEO company.

Search Engine Optimization, Ranking, Placement Services – Offers Search Engine Optimization, Ranking, Placement Services to get top ranks in various Search Engines.

Always prefer a text link (as given above) in comparison to a banner link, where your chance of Google spiders, i.e. Googlebot finding the potential keywords is limited only to the “alt tag” of the banner. Also, Google pays importance to the text of the incoming link/anchor text (i.e. the incoming link text must contain high potential, relevant keywords),

so develop a link text with title (”search engine optimization ranking placement services”) which will help you in Google Ranking.

5.Refrain from java script link code because Google spiders find it difficult to index.

6.There are various ways of approaching and procuring potential link partners. Firstly, how to get industry related websites to link to yours? Suppose, “search engine optimization”, “search engine promotion” and “search engine ranking” are 3 of your core keywords. Go to Google. Type in each of the three keywords, and find the top 10 sites for each keyword. Now, you have 10 * 3 = 30 websites. Visit the links page (if applicable, since some sites refrain from participating in link exchange programs) of each of the 30 sites, and note down all the sites that are linking to these sites. For example, if each of these 30 sites have 10 sites linking to it, you have 10 * 30 = 300 potential websites to exchange links with. (Please note that our experience shows that conversion rate of successful link exchange is 1 in 4-5, i.e. if you approach 4-5 websites, 1 site will ultimately provide you with reciprocal link, so in order to get high incoming links, you must research extensively and find more potential link partners. Also, as mentioned above, always try to exchange links with websites having PR >=4).

7.If you request a link to a top-level page or the homepage of your site, this will have a positive effect on this page. If the PageRank of this page increases, then the page below it will increase (if the internal linking structure is correct), but it will still be one PageRank number below the page above it that was linked to.

8.Manually submit the page to Google where your link partner has placed the link of your site.

For example, if your link partner’s website is www.abc.com and he has placed your website in his resources page, namely, www.abc.com/resources.html, then go to http://www.google.com/addurl.html and submit www.abc.com/resources.html. It is very essential for getting good ranks in Google that you submit the page where your site has been placed by your link partners.
